Roofing & Construction Calculator API

65 JSON endpoints for roofing, decking, fencing, drywall, insulation, tile, landscape, concrete and paint

The formulas behind the Smart Roofing calculators, as a REST API on RapidAPI. Send a roof footprint and pitch and get back squares, shingle bundles with waste and a planning cost — plus endpoints for decks, fences, drywall, insulation, tile, gravel, concrete, paint and unit conversions, in imperial or metric units.

Quick start

Subscribe on RapidAPI (the free Basic plan is enough to try it) and call any endpoint through the host construction-calc-api.p.rapidapi.com with your X-RapidAPI-Key header. Every endpoint accepts GET with query parameters or POST with a JSON body.

curl 'https://construction-calc-api.p.rapidapi.com/v1/roofing/shingles?length=50&width=40&pitch=6&wastePercent=10&bundleCost=38' \
  -H 'X-RapidAPI-Host: construction-calc-api.p.rapidapi.com' \

A 2,000 sq ft footprint at a 6/12 pitch is 2,236 sq ft of roof; with 10% waste that is 24.6 squares and 74 bundles, the same answer the shingle calculator on this site gives.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The Basic plan on RapidAPI is free with 100 requests a month, enough to test every endpoint before choosing a paid plan.

Does the API use the same formulas as this site?

Yes. It runs the same roofing math as the calculators here, and its tests check it against the figures published in the guides, for example 74 bundles for a 2,000 sq ft footprint at 6/12 with 10% waste.

Can I get metric results?

Yes. Add units=metric and every dimensioned input and output is in metres, square metres, cubic metres, kilograms or litres. Counts and money do not change.

Are the results quotes?

No. They are planning estimates for quantities and budgets, not engineering, code or bidding advice.
