Three bundles cover one roofing square for standard three-tab and architectural shingles, but heavier laminated and designer shingles take four or five, which is where most orders go wrong. The Shingle Bundle Calculator lets you enter either roof area or squares, pick your shingle type, set a waste factor, and returns the exact bundle count to order, the number of individual shingles, the roofing nails required at four per shingle, the approximate bundle weight so you know what the roof and your delivery can carry, and optional starter strip and hip-and-ridge cap quantities. Bundles are sold whole, so the tool always rounds up — and ordering one extra bundle is far cheaper than a second delivery mid-job. Keep a spare bundle after the job for future storm repairs, because colour lots change between production runs.
